Junior Accountant/Cost Accountant

Specific duties and responsibilities:
  • Analyze inventory stock, inventory tracking and related journal entries
  • Monitors all transactions involving inventory to ensure the perpetual records are updated and maintained properly,inventory is valued correctly and good judgment is used in the evaluation of reserves&
  • Maintains the accuracy of standard costs, and ensures that the company’s reporting requirements are satisfied
  • Perform analysis in areas of manufacturing labor, raw materials and overhead spending
  • Provide support to department heads in understanding actual versus budget departmental spend variances.
  • Calculate monthly commissions
  • Review and evaluate Accounts Receivable billings and collections;
  • Review/post Accounts Payable batches, customer sales orders, and daily deposit
  • Maintain vendor master file
  • Ensure compliance through review of prepared sales/use tax returns for multiple states
  • Assist with yearly Audit preparation - maintain audit readiness in accordance with GAAP and PBC from external auditors
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of relevant financial reports for internal and external stakeholders
  • Monitor and analyze department process flow to develop more efficient procedures and use of resources while maintaining a high level of accuracy
  • Engaged in the more critical and confidential aspects of accounting, which require broad conceptual judgment, initiative and ability to deal with complex accounting issues
  • Special projects, ad hoc analysis and reporting as needed
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions
Minimum Requirements:
  • Education - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
  • Previous Employment Experience - 2 to 4 years of accounting and/or auditing experience preferably in the manufacturing industry
  • Skills Microsoft Office Programs, knowledge of ERP and Accounting systems
Supplemental Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of accounting theory
  • Thorough knowledge of all accounting functions and related internal controls, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, and inventory
  • Exceptional problem solving abilities and good organizational skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required
  • Active collaboration with the Sales, Customer Service and Accounting Department functions as well as cross-functional areas of the company such as Manufacturing and Clinical departments
  • Will be required to perform other duties as requested, directed or assigned
